Simon Wilde

Expedition Founder

imageSimon is of Zimbabwean decendancy and grew up on a farm during the 1970’s. He then finished his schooling in England and continued on a corporate career in various locations in the UK. Feeling unfulfilled and missing an African lifestyle he returned to Africa to take up a position as a safari guide in Liwonde National Park, Malawi. It was here he developed a passion for natural African flora and fauna and found he could put his managerial skills to use whilst running both Mvuu Camp and Mvuu Wilderness Lodge.

After two years he moved on to manage Mfuwe Lodge in the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia and continued conducting game drives and walking safaris. He now lives with his wife and son at the lodge they built and now run (The Islands of Siankaba) on the Zambezi River near Livingstone. After researching David Livingstone’s travels within the Victoria Falls area and realizing the 150th anniversary was just two years away he started planning the expedition back in 2003. He passionately hopes that this expedition will help to reawaken interest in one of (if not) the most amazing explorers the world has ever known.
